Compaction and volumetric analysis of cold in-place recycled asphalt mixtures prepared using gyratory, static, and impact procedures

Compaction is one of the most important factors to be considered while manufacturing laboratory samples cold in-place recycled (CIR) mixtures. In this study, effect three compaction procedures (static, gyratory, and impact) on volumetric performance CIR mixtures was investigated. specimens were manufactured with same proportion added water bitumen emulsion, using several levels compaction, varying number gyrations blows. The properties evaluated by different procedures, both before after curing. A comparison between results tests, design target values, actual in-field values performed. It observed that gyratory proved versatile best represented real compaction. bulk density procedure dimensions useful for design; however, it overestimated sizes air void content more than 10% compared field values.
